Tools & Equipment Library

NimTools library logo - 2018-07-23bin Community Tools & Equipment Library Project is available for access by community members for the purposes of participating in skills development workshops and undertaking basic repairs and maintenance around the home. The project has a particular focus on social housing tenants, long term unemployed and young people.

The library also includes equipment from our Food Processing Equipment Library, craft equipment and catering accessories available to community groups to hire.

The Tools and Equipment Library is the first step in a larger ‘People’s Shed’ strategy identified in the SNCP to be ultimately located at 7 Sibley Street. The ‘People’s Shed’ is a concept which combines the men’s shed, makers faire and hackerspace concepts and will require a new building to be erected.

The aims of the tools library include improving access to tools and equipment, building skills and resilience, creating social inclusion opportunities between older and younger people in particular and improve/maintain existing housing and community assets.

The Tools and Equipment Library is a project of Nimbin Neighbourhood and Information Centre (NNIC) and the People’s Shed is a strategy under the SNCP.

Membership is open to members of the Nimbin community (i.e. within a radius of 30kms from the village), who are aged 18 years and above, and who are members of NNIC.
Membership to the Library costs $27.50 inc NNIC membership  (or $22 for current financial NNIC members), per year. (Note: library membership is FREE for social housing tenants who are NNIC members. Young people aged between 18 and 25 are eligible for HALF PRICE membership. For  more info apply at NNIC).
