Moving the Old House Appeal

This is 7 Sibley Street, Nimbin, New South Wales, Australia.

Photo Sibley St in Skate park precinct context

As you can see from this picture, it is located in the middle of the village next to the Nimbin Skate Park and across the road from the Community Centre.

Its purpose is to house a bunch of community projects and activities connected to affordable housing and sustainable living.

We bought it in 2012 and paid off the loan in 2015.

In 2016 we installed a shipping container on site so we can begin to salvage and collect building materials.

The BIG PLAN is to construct a new building on the site which demonstrates and resources affordable and sustainable building, housing and living in general. And which supports employment and economic opportunities for people in need.

BUT the NEXT STEP is to relocate and RESCUE the old house. It might not look much but the old house has historical value with good old bones. With your help we can transform it

Relocated House

Once we rescue the house it will form the CORNERSTONE of the 7 Sibley St project.

And we can begin to use it for projects and activities, including a new TOOLS LIBRARY, skills-share WORKSHOPS, a new FOOD PANTRY for disadvantaged people, expand our SOUP KITCHEN plus start up our resource centre and ‘MO THINK TANK’ for affordable housing solutions.

As of March 2018, we have recieved our Development Application approval to move the house, our Construction Certificate and we are now proceeding with building works.
